बाघा मुंडा
बाघ का काष्ठ निर्मित मुखौटा
बाघा मुंडा, बाघ नृत्य (बाघा नाच) के दौरान प्रयोग किया जाने वाला बाघ का काष्ठ निर्मित मुखौटा है। यह जनजातियों द्वारा शिकार अभियान पर निकलने से पहले और लौटने के बाद पशु की नकल उतारते हुए किया जाने वाला नृत्य है। यह ओडिशा के गंजाम जिले का एक लोकप्रिय लोक नृत्य भी है जो प्रसिद्ध ठकुरानी यात्रा (मातृ देवी या दुर्गा का त्यौहार) से जुड़ा है। प्रदर्शन के दौरान, नर्तक वादकों के एक समूह से घिरे होते हैं, जो चंगस (ताल वाद्य यंत्र) को बजाते हुए नर्तकों को नृत्य करने के लिए प्रोत्साहित करते हैं। इस नृत्य रूप में, नर्तकों के शरीर को एक बाघ का रूप देने के लिए धारीदार पैटर्न में चमकीले पीले और काले रंग से रंगा जाता है।
इस नृत्य रूप में बाघ और बैल तथा बाघ और शिकारी का आमना- सामना और घोड़े का शिकार करते बाघ की नृत्य मुद्राएं प्रमुख हैं। नर्तक लय के अनुसार अद्भुत तालमेल के साथ, इतनी कलात्मकता से आगे बढ़ते हैं कि बाघ की चाल वास्तविक प्रतीत होती है। वातावरण और लयबद्ध भाव का सृजन करने के लिए ढोला और महुरी वाद्य यंत्रों का वादन किया जाता है। इस नृत्य में दहाड़ना, देखना, कूदना और दौड़ना आदि मुद्राएं प्रदर्शित की जाती हैं। चित्रकार समुदाय द्वारा पारंपरिक रूप से पलाधुआ की लकड़ी से यह मुखौटे तैयार किए जाते हैं।

Bagha Munda
A wooden mask of Tiger
Bagha Munda is a wooden mask of tiger used during tiger dance (Bagha Nacha). It is an imitative dance of the animal among the tribals who used to perform it before and after hunting expedition. Now it is performed as a popular folk dance in Ganjam district of Odisha. The dance is associated with the famous Thakurani Yatra (the festival of mother goddess or Durga). During the performance, dancers are surrounded by a group of musicians who by beating the Changus (percussion instruments) encourage the dancers to dance. In this dance form, the body of the dancers is painted in bright yellow and black in a stripped pattern to give the look of a tiger.
The dance form includes encounter between tiger and ox, encounter between tiger and hunter and tiger preying on horse etc. With amazing synchronization, the dancers move so artistically as per the rhythm played, the movements of the tiger appear realistic. Dhola, Mahuri instruments are played to create the environment and rhythmic sense. Roaring, watching, jumping and running movements are displayed in this dance. The masks are traditionally made out of Paladhua wood by the Chitrakara community.
