यह काष्ठ निर्मित चक्की मणिपुर के थौबल जिले से संकलित की गई है। स्थानीय भाषा में इसको ऊ-चकरी कहा जाता है। “मखुम” कहे जाने वाले ऊपरी भाग पर लगे हत्थे की सहायता से संचालित इस चक्की को गोल घुमाकर उपयोग में लाया जाता है। इस विशिष्ट चक्की का उपयोग घरेलू खपत हेतु धान पिसाई के लिये किया जाता है। “महक” कहलाने वाले कुंडे के निचले भाग में पीसने के लिये दाँते बने होते है, जवकि ऊपरी भाग में अनाज उड़ेलने के लिए प्रवेश द्वार होता है, जहां से होकर अनाज पीसने वाले दाँतों तक पहुँचता है। कुंडों के मध्य में उत्पन्न घर्षण अवरोध धान को कुचलने व पीसने में सहायक होते है। वर्तमान में यह तकनीक इस क्षेत्र में बहुत ही दुर्लभ है।
“OO-CHAKRI”

This wooden grinder is collected from Thoubal district of Manipur. ‘Chakri’is a native term used for grinder. This heavy wooden grinder is operated manually by rotating the log fixed on upper portion which is called “Makhum”. This particular grinder was exclusively meant for paddy grinding for domestic consumption. The lower segment of the log called “M ahak” contains grinding teeth where as the upper log has an inlet for pouring grains which allows passing into the grinding teeth, the frictional obstructions generated between the logs allow crush and grinding the paddy. Now-a-days this technology is very rare in the region. In the olden days, the person who owns this massive size of grinder was regarded to be the rich family of the village.
