यह यंत्र वास्तव में एक ऐसा उपकरण है जो धान गहाई के लिये प्रयोग किया जाता है। स्थानीय तौर पर इसे धान झराई कल के नाम से जाना जाता है। बड़े आकार की छड़ी के सहारे समानान्तर लगी काष्ठ निर्मित छड़ों से बनी इस मशीन का आकार बेलन जैसा होता है। काष्ठ निर्मित बेलनाकार रचना में मुड़ी हुई या घुमावदार कीलों से बने दांतें होते है। यह बेलनाकार रचना कार्यान्वयन हेतु पैर के द्वारा पैडल की सहायता से संचालित की जाती है। पैडल चलाने पर यह मशीन तेज गति से गोल घूमती है एवं धान को पुआाल से अलग करती है एवं फलस्वरूप् धान को मशीन से लगे अवतल चादर पर गिर जाता है। इस प्रकार का गहाई यंत्र धान उत्पादक राज्य- पश्चिम बंगाल में सभी जगह पाया जाता है।
“Dhan Jharai Kal”

This machine actually is a thresher, used for separating the paddy from the straw. Locally it is known as “Dhan Jharai Kal”. The paddy threshing machine has a cylindrical body made from wooden bars horizontally fitted through an axle rod. The cylindrical wooden body has pegged tooth made of blunted nails. For functioning the cylindrical body is operated by foot through the paddles. By operating the paddles the body rotates at high speed and the paddy bundles were placed on bars. The rotation of the bars releases the paddy from the straw and fall on the concave sheet placed with the curve of the cylinder. This type of threshing machine is found all over West Bengal. Since, it is widely known as the paddy cultivating state.
