तांबे का एक बड़ा पात्र
चारु फैले हुए आधार वाला तांबे का एक पात्र है जिसका मुख्य हिस्सा बेलनाकार, कंधा संकुचित एवं गला मुंह के ऊपरी किनारे तक पहुंचता है। इसे उठाने और लाने लेजाने के लिए ऊपरी किनारे पर ठोस हत्थे की एक जोड़ी लगी होती है। गुजराती लोक संस्कृति में धातु का यह बहुउद्देश्यीय पात्र अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण है। इसका उपयोग पारंपरिक रूप से अनाज या जल के भंडारण के अतिरिक्त जमीन के नीचे कीमती सामानों को सुरक्षित रूप से छिपाने के लिए भी किया जाता था। कुछ घरों में इसका उपयोग केवल पानी रखने के लिए किया जाता है क्योंकि ऐसी मान्यता है कि तांबे के पात्र में रखा जल प्राकृतिक रूप से स्वतः शुद्ध होता है। इस प्रकार के बड़े पात्र वधु को दहेज के रूप में दिये जाते हैं।

A big copper vessel
Charu is a vessel with a broad base that rises to a cylindrical body, tapering shoulder, constricted neck, and collared aperture with a pair of elegant solid handles connected along the rim for lifting and carrying purposes. In Gujarati folk culture, this multipurpose metal vessel holds a vital significance, and it was also used to conceal hidden valuables beneath the ground, in addition to its conventional usage of storing grains or water. Some households use it only to keep water because they believe that water held in copper pots purifies itself naturally. A huge vessel of this type is offered to the bride as a dowry item.
