तांगखुल नागा पॉटरी को लोंगपी पॉटरी के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। यह नाम मणिपुर के उखरूल जिले में स्थित लोंगपी गांव के नाम पर रखा गया है। यह गाँव अपनी देशज कला से निर्मित ब्लैकवेयर पॉटरी के उत्पादन के लिए प्रसिद्ध है, जो उन्हें उनके पूर्वजों से विरासत में मिला है। प्राचीन समय में लोंगपी कुम्हार अपने मिट्टी के बर्तनों को चावल, माँस और टोकरी आदि के साथ आदान–प्रदान किया करते थे।
परंपरागत रूप से तांगखुल जनजाति में मिट्टी के बर्तनों का शिल्प उचित अनुष्ठान के साथ केवल पुरुषों द्वारा किया जाता था। बांस और लकड़ी के सरल औजारों से विभिन्न मिट्टी के बर्तनों को आकार दिया जाता है और बर्तनों को एक अत्यधिक कौशल पूर्ण विधि से पकाया जाता है।
उनकी सांस्कृतिक पहचान को दर्शाने वाली वस्तुओं में से एक हम्पाई नामक एक खास बर्तन है। सामूहिक भोज में खाना पकाने के लिए प्रयुक्त यह बर्तन पारंपरिक रूप से उत्सव, उत्साह और समृद्धि का प्रतीक है।

The Tangkhul Naga Pottery, also known as the Longpi Pottery, is named after the Longpi village, located in the Ukhrul district of Manipur. The village is famous for producing indigenous blackware pottery, which is inherited from their forefathers. Longpi Potters used to exchange their earthenware with meat, rice, and baskets in the olden days.
Traditionally, the art of pottery among the Tangkhul tribe was practiced by the males only. The pottery craft used to have involved appropriate ritual conduct.
One of the essential items that endorse the pride of their cultural identity is a vessel called Hampai. This massive cooking vessel traditionally marks the symbol of festivity, merriment, and prosperity.
