पालीवाल आवास
पालीवाल आदि-गौड़ ब्राम्हणों का एक समुदाय है जो काफी समय तक राजस्थान में जीवनयापन कर रहे थे। 13वीं शताब्दी में वे यह स्थान छोड़कर पश्चिम की ओर जैसलमेर के भाटी क्षेत्रों में प्रवासन कर गए। इस समूह ने 84 गाँव बसाये जो कि ‘खेरा’ नाम से जाने जाते हैं। ये गांव स्थापत्य कला के बेजोड़ नमूनों से संपुष्ट थे। शिल्प कौशल के आधार पर इन संरचनाओं को 15वीं शताब्दी के बाद का माना जाता है।
जैसलमेर पीले पत्थरों पर नक्काशीयुक्त भव्य आवासों का एक सुंदर शहर है। आवासों में ज्यमितीय आकृतियों वाली खूबसूरत जालीदार खिड़कियाँ हैं, जिनके साथ उच्च कलात्मक श्रेणी के खूबसूरत खंबे हैं। पीले पत्थरों से निर्मित भव्य एवं आकर्षक स्थापत्य कला संरचनाओं के कारण इसे जैसलमेर को स्वर्णनगरी के नाम से जाना जाता है।
पालीवाल शैली के आवास भव्य एवं अलंकृत होते हैं जिनमें समृद्ध लोग अपनी रुचि पूर्ण वस्तुओं के साथ आरामदायक जीवनयापन करते हैं। प्रत्येक मकान के अग्र भाग में संकरे प्रवेश के साथ खुली छत एवं बालकनी (खिड़की) होती है। मध्य में ‘मोल’ नामक आयताकार बड़ा कक्ष होता है। यही योजना ऊपरी मंजिल में भी दोहराई जाती है। छत लकड़ी के पटियों को एक पंक्ति में जमाकर बनाई जाती है जो लकड़ी की भारी बीम को मजबूती प्रदान करती है। छत को मिट्टी फैलाकर जलरोधी बनाया जाता है। मकान में दो भूमिगत कक्ष होते हैं जिनका उपयोग आराम कक्ष के रूप में किया जाता है।
घर के मुख्य भाग एवं काष्ठ पर अलंकरण के अतिरिक्त पत्थर पर छिद्रित जाली पालीवाल मकानों की विशिष्टता रही है। खूबसूरती से उकेरी गई खिड़कियों (बालकनी) पर ज्यामितीय प्रतिमान इन मकानों को शोभा में अभिवृद्धि करते हैं।
Paliwal House
Paliwal is a community of Adi-Gaur Brahmins who had been living in Rajasthan for a long time. In the 13th century, they moved towards the west in the Bhati territories of Jaisalmer. The group established 84 villages which were known as “Khera”. These villages were among the beautiful samples of architecture. These structures, based on craftsmanship, believed to be built after 15th century.
Jaisalmer is a beautiful city showcasing grandeur of yellow stone carvings. The houses consist of beautiful lattice windows having intricate geometrical patterns which have magnificent and attractive pillars of high artistic class. It is known as Swarnanagari because of the grand and attractive architectural structures built with yellow stones.
Paliwal style houses are magnificent and ornate where the wealthy people make a comfortable living with their favorite things. The front of each house has an open terrace and a balcony (covered window) with a narrow entrance. The large rectangular chamber in the middle is known as “Mole”. The same plan is repeated in the upper floor. The roof is made by keeping the wooden planks together in a row, which gives strength to the heavy beam of the wood. The roof is made water resistant by using clay. The house consists of two underground chambers which are used as rest rooms. In addition to the decoration on the front of the house and on the wood, the intricately printed forged perforations on the stone have been characteristic of the Paliwal houses. The beautiful carved Jaalis on the windows have geometrical patterns which gives grandeur look to these houses.
