राजस्थान का एक पारंपरिक शॉल
पट्टू उच्च गुणवत्ता वाले धागों से बना राजस्थान का एक पारंपरिक शॉल है। राजसी और आकर्षक बनाने के लिए पूरे शाल पर बारीक कशीदाकारी की गई है। पट्टू शब्द की उत्पत्ति पट्टी शब्द से हुई है। पट्टियों के आकार में की गई बुनाई इस शाल की पहचान है। यह स्थानीय भेड़ों से एकत्रित ऊन से बना, प्राकृतिक रंगों से रंगा और धागों से बुने ज्यामितीय नमूनों से अलंकृत है। मूल ज्यामितीय प्रतिमानों को बनाए रखते हुए बाने के अतिरिक्त धागों से नमूने बनाए गए हैं। धागों का रंग संयोजन इसकी सुंदरता में अभिवृद्धि करता है। लाल बॉर्डर के साथ काले रंग के इस शॉल की कशीदाकारी में उपयोग किए गए अधिकांश रंग चमकदार हैं जैंसे लाल, नारंगी, हरा, सफेद, गुलाबी और पीला। यह शॉल पश्चिमी राजस्थान में बाड़मेर, जैसलमेर एवं आसपास के क्षेत्र में प्रचलित है। मेघवाल लोग पहले मोटे धागे को पतली पट्टियों के रूप में बुनते हैं जिन्हें बाद में पट्टू का रूप देने के लिए संयुक्त रूप से सिल दिया जाता है। पारंपरिक पट्टू शाल बाड़मेर, जैसलमेर और आस-पास के क्षेत्रों में प्रचलित है। यह शाल राजस्थान में सभी समूहों के लोगों द्वारा पहना जाता है और यह इस मरू क्षेत्र की शुष्क ठंड में बहुत ही आरामदायक होता है।

A traditional shawl from Rajasthan
Pattu is a traditional shawl from Rajasthan made up of fine quality yarn. It is carefully woven with full embroidery pattern to give it a royal and glamorous look. Pattu shawl is identified by it’s weaving in the shape of strips or patty . The word’ Pattu’ is derived from the word ‘patty’. It is made up of natural fiber wool collected from local sheep, dyed naturally and embellished with thread patterns mostly geometrical. Motifs are created by extra weft thread following basic geometric patterns. The colour combination of thread work adds an elegant look. The present shawl is black in colour with red border and most of the colours used in the embroidery of this shawl are vibrant like red, orange, green, white, pink and yellow. The shawl is woven in the Barmer, Jaisalmer and nearby areas of Western Rajasthan. The Meghwal people weave this pattu shawl by using coarse yarn into slender strips or patties which are sewed jointly to form the broad shawl known as pattu shawl. It is worn by all groups of people in Rajasthan. The shawl is very comfortable to bear the dry cold of the arid region.
