डोरी कठपुतली
कठपुतली प्रदर्शन लंबे समय से ग्रामीण बंगाल में मनोरंजन का साधन रहे हैं। यहां विविध प्रकार की कठपुतलियों का प्रचलन रहा है जिनमें डोरी, छड़ी और दस्ताने से संचालित होने वाली कठपुतलियां भी सम्मिलित हैं। इनमें से लकड़ी की कठपुतली व्यापक रूप से प्रचलित है जिसे डोरी और छड़ी द्वारा संचालित किया जाता है। यहां दिखाई गई डोरी कठपुतली एक मंत्री के चरित्र का प्रतिनिधित्व करती है जिसने बैंगनी रंग का अंगवस्त्र और बड़ी पगड़ी पहनी हुई है। कठपुतलियाँ स्थानीय रूप से गाँव के विशिष्ट कारीगरों द्वारा निर्मित की जाती हैं जो मिथकीय नायकों, राक्षसों, देवी-देवताओं, नर्तकियों आदि के चरित्रों को दर्शाती हैं। डोरी कठपुतलियां डोरी से लटका कर ऊपर से संचालित की जाती हैं। इनकी प्रस्तुतियां मुख्यतः मेलों और त्योहारों में की जाती हैं और कलाकार गाते और कठपुतलियों को संचालित करते हुए दर्शकों का मनोरंजन करता है। प्रस्तुतियां मुख्यत: पौराणिक कथाओं, किंवदंतियों, लोक कथाओं और सामाजिक मुद्दों पर आधारित होती हैं।

String puppet
Puppet shows have been a source of entertainment in rural Bengal for a long time. It is home to a variety of puppets including those which are operated by string, stick and glove. The common form widely prevalent is the wooden puppets manipulated by string and stick. This string puppet represents the character of a minister shown wearing a violet colour upper garment and large turban. The puppets are locally produced by specialized village artisans portraying the characters of mythological heroes, demons, gods and goddesses, dancers etc. The string puppets are suspended by strings and manipulated from above. These are played in fairs and festivals. The performer entertains the audience by singing and manipulating the puppets. During performances mythological narratives, legends, folk stories, and social issues are communicated.
