अंदेर- मछली पकड़ने का एक उपकरण
कोया ओडिशा के मलकानगिरी जिले की एक प्रमुख जनजाति है, जो मुख्यतः जल स्रोतों के पास निवास करती है। यह जनजाति अपने आप को ‘कोया’ या ‘कोइतोर’ कहते हैं जिसका अर्थ होता है “लोग”। कोया वन क्षेत्रों की बारहमासी और मौसमी जल धाराओं में मछली पकड़ने के लिए अंदेर नामक पारंपरिक फंदे का उपयोग करते हैं। इसे बांस की लंबी और पतली खपच्चियों को नियमित अंतराल से रखकर केन की पतली डोरी के साथ व्यवस्थित रूप से बांध कर बेलनाकार रुप दिया गया है। इसमें दोनों तरफ “V” आकार के दो द्वार हैं, जिसमें से एक आंशिक रूप से खोला जाता है ताकि मछली पानी के प्रवाह के साथ फंदे में प्रवेश कर फंस जाए जबकि दूसरे का उपयोग फंसी हुई मछली को निकालने के लिए किया जाता है। अंदेर को बनाने में लगभग 6 से 8 घंटे का समय लगता है। मछली पकड़ने का कार्य अधिकांशतः महिला एवं पुरुष दोनों के द्वारा समूहों में किया जाता है और वे मछलियां पकड़ने के लिए बांस से बने विभिन्न प्रकार के फंदों और जालों का उपयोग करते हैं।

ANDER- A fishing trap
The Koya is the principal tribe of the Malkangiri district of Odisha, widely distributed near water bodies. The tribe is known among themselves as ‘Koya’ or ‘Koitor’ which means “people”. In perennial and seasonal streams of the forest areas, the Koyas use a traditional fishing trap called “Ander” to catch fish. This fishing trap is made of thin and long bamboo strips which are arranged and tightened together with slender cane thread at regular intervals to keep the splits in position to form a cylindrical shape. Two “V” shape valves are provided on either side where one end is partially opened to allow the fish to enter inside the trap by the force of water so that the fish gets trapped while the other end is used to draw the trapped fish. The preparation of Ander requires about 6 to 8 hours. Fishing is done predominantly in groups and they use different types of fishing implements like basketry traps, angling, and fishing nets. Both men and women are involved in catching fish.
