बाबसी तुबराज का स्थान

गुजरात राजस्थान सीमा पर घने जंगल के बीच तुबराज पहाड़ी है, जहाँ हर साल दीपावली के दूसरे दिन भील, गरासिया, डेंगरी-गरासिया, सोकळा गरासिया लोग बावसी तुबराज को टेराकोटा का असवारी घोड़ा (सवार के साथ घोड़ा) व हाथी तथा इसके साथ बकरे की बलि चढ़ाते हैं। तुबराज बावसी गाँव की क खेतों की रक्षा करते हैं और माना जाता है कि वे राजपूत हैं. इसलिये उन्हें बकरा चढ़ता है। तुबराज पहाड़ी पर लगे वन को पवित्र माना जाता है। इसे कोहेजा कहते हैं। इस वन में लगने वाले पेड़-पौधों को कभी काटा नहीं जाता, न इससे मिलने वाली वन उपज को बेचा जाता है। कोहेजा में यदि कोई पुराना बड़ा पेड़ किसी कारण से, मसलन, आँधी से गिर जाता है, तो गाँव के सारे लोग उस दिन उपवास रखते है। वन संरक्षण का यह पारंपरिक तरीका लोगों के पर्यावरण के प्रति पुराने समय से सचेत होने को दर्शाता है।
THE SHRINE OF BAVSI TUBRAJ

The hill of Tubraj surrounded by a dense forest is situated on the border of Gujarat and Rajasthan. Every year on the second day of Diwali festival, people of Bhil and Garasia tribes flock to this place to worship Bavsi Tubraj and to make offerings to him of terracotta horses and elephants. They also sacrifice goats in his honour because of the belief in his Rajput origin. Tubraj Bavsi is believed to be the protector of village and fields. The trees on the Tubraj hill constitute the Koheja or the sacred grove. The trees of the Koheja are never axed, nor is the forest produce from it sold. In the event of an old tree falling accidently in storm or rain, the village people observe a fast. This sacred grove concept speaks volumes for the traditional environment conservation methods and the local people’s concern on the matter.
