रेशम का धागा तैयार करने के लिए उपयोग किया जाने वाला
लकड़ी का एक उपकरण
“लांगशुंग तारेंग” कोकून (रेशम कीट के द्वारा अपने शरीर के चारों ओर सिर के माध्यम से स्रावित प्रोटीन से निर्मित आवरण की परत) से रेशमी धागा तैयार करने के लिए एक देशज कताई उपकरण है। यह पूर्णतः काष्ठ निर्मित संरचना है। इस में दो पहिये हैं, एक बड़ा (मुख्य पहिया), एक छोटा (सहायक पहिया), धागे को घुमाने के लिए एक लोहे का घूर्णक, एक लकड़ी का प्लेटफार्म जो पैडल के रूप में काम करता है और एक गुणाकार कताई उपकरण है। यह पूरी तरह से उपयोगकर्ता द्वारा संचालित किया जाता है। पैडल की ऊपर और नीचे की गति मुख्य पहिये (निचले हिस्से पर लगा हुआ) को घुमाती है और साथ ही मोटी सुतली से जुड़ा सहायक पहिया (ऊपरी हिस्से पर लगा हुआ) भी घूमता है और संपर्क बिंदु लगातार घूमते हुए रेशम के कोकून को धागे में परिवर्तित करता है।

Langshung Tareng
A wooden device used for preparing silk thread
The “Langshung Tareng” is an indigenous spinning device for preparing silk yarn from Cocoon (a stage of silk-worm forming a covering layer of protein around its body, secreting through its head). The structure is entirely made of wood. It has one big wheel (main wheel), one small wheel (supporting wheel), an iron rotor for turning thread, a wooden platform which serves as paddle and a cross spinning tool. It is fully operated by muscular energy of the user. The up and down movement of the paddle allows the main wheel (fixed to the lower part) to rotate and subsequently the supporting wheel (fixed to the upper part) connected by coarse thread belt also rotates their by the rotor and the connecting point helps to turn the raw cocoon silk into thread in continuous turns.
