मालन गुजरी (कुबेरी पूजा)

दीपावली भारत मे वृहद रूप से मनाया जाने वाला त्यौहार है| मध्य प्रदेश और मध्य भारत तथा उत्तरी भारत के विभिन्न भागों मे इसका बहुत महत्व है| दिवाली से संबन्धित अनुष्ठान धनतेरस से शुरू होकर भाई दूज को सम्पन्न होते है| मालवा एवं भोपाल में मनाया जाने वाला एक महत्वपूर्ण त्यौहार है ।यह धनतेरस से शुरू होकर भाई दूज तक मनाया जाता है। तीसरे दिन जो की अमावस्या अथवा कार्तिक का 15 वा दिन है गणेश व सरस्वती के साथ देवी लक्ष्मी के अलावा ‘मालन गुजरी’ कहलाने वाली एक मिट्टी की प्रतिमा के पूजन की सामान्य परंपरा है|
गुजरी देवी (कुबेरी देवी) चार भुजाओं सहित सुन्दर पोशाक (लहंगा चोली) धारण करती हैं। इनकी मूर्ती में 5- 251 दीप स्थापित किये जाते हैं। वैश्य, धनिक, व्यापारी एवं साहूकार देवी की पूजा अपने कलम, दवात, बहीखाता, रंग एवं ब्रश के साथ करते हैं। दीपाकार के ये प्रतीक देवी को खील, बताशा, लाई इत्यादि का भोग लगाने के लिए उपयोग किये जाते हैं ।इस अवसर पर घरेलू मृद्भांड जैसे चक्की, चुक्की, चकला बेलन इत्यादि भी देवी को अर्पित किये जाते हैं जो बाद में लड़कियों को खेलने के लिए उपहार स्वरूप प्रदान कर दिए जाते हैं। ये सभी टेराकोटा के बने होते है। ऐसा माना जाता है कि ये प्रतीक पूरे वर्ष घर को सुखी एवं संपन्न रखते हैं।

Diwali is a widely celebrated festival in India. In Madhya Pradesh and various parts of Central and Northern India, it occupies greater importance. The rituals related to Diwali begin from Dhanteras and concludes on Bhai Dooj. It is an important festival celebrated in Malwa and Bhopal. Besides worshipping goddess Lakshmi along with Ganesha and Saraswati, there is a common tradition of worshipping a clay idol called ‘Malan Gujari’ on the 3rd day of Amawashya or the 15th day of Kartika.
Goddess Gujri (Kuberi Devi) having four arms wears a beautiful Poshak (Lehnga Choli). In her idol, 5 to 251 lamp shaped symbols are installed. The Vaishya, Peerage, merchant and Shroff used to worship her with their pen, inkpot, ledger, colour and brushes. These lamp shaped symbols are used to keep offerings for Devi like keel, batasha and laai etc. Earthen household items like grinder, double pot small vessel with a handle called chukki, rolling board and pin and pan are gifted to girls at a later stage for playing and are also offered to Devi. These household items are made of terracotta. It is believed that these symbols keep the members of house healthy and wealthy throughout the year.
