लिम्बू समुदाय का पारंपरिक आवास
लिम्बू किरात मूल की एक जनजाति है जो दक्षिण तिब्बत, पूर्वी नेपाल, बर्मा, भूटान और भारतीय राज्यों जैसे पश्चिम बंगाल (विशेषकर: दार्जिलिंग, कलिमपोंग और जलपाई गुडी जिले) सिक्किम, असम और नागालैण्ड की मूल निवासी है। लिम्बू का मूल नाम थकुंग या थकथुग्ंबा है। लिम्बू पुरुषों और लिम्बु महिलाओं को ‘‘यकयुमा‘‘ या ‘‘याकथुग्ंमा‘‘ नाम से पुकारा जाता है, इनके मुख्य पोशाक में पुरुष लोग ढ़ाका, टोपी व स्कार्फ पहनते हैं, तथा ढ़ाका साड़ी मे खली ब्लाउज और शॉल लिम्बु महिलायें धारण करती है। ढ़ाका जो ज्यामितीय स्वरुप मे हाथ से बुना हुआ एक पारम्परिक पोशाक है । यह कला एक पीढ़ी से दूसरे पीढ़ी को हस्तान्तरित की जाती है। लिम्बु पारम्परिक रुप से गेहूं, बाजरा, मक्का आदि की खेती करते हैं । इनके आवास, लकड़ी, पत्थर और बांस आदि से बने दो मंजिला बना होता हैं। पहली मंजिल पर जाने के लिये लकड़ी की सीढ़ी का प्रावधान होता है, आवास का उपरी भाग जो कि तीन तरफ से लकड़ी की बनीं बालकनी से घिरा होता है, तथा दो तरफ लकड़ी की खिड़किया होती है। आवास का भूतल जोकि काफी बड़ा होता है इसमे खाद्यान्न भण्डार, कपड़े व मूल्यवान से वस्तुऐं रखी होती है। तथा घर को मिट्टी के रंगों से सजाया जाता है । इस आवास का संकलन 2011 में संग्रहालय द्वारा किया गया था जोकि संग्रहालय के हिमालय ग्राम मुक्ताकाश प्रदर्शनी में प्रदर्शित किया गया है।

Traditional House of Limboo community
Limboo tribe of kirat origin who are original inhabitants of Southern Tibet, Eastern Nepal, Burma, Bhutan and Indian states Like West Bengal (Particularly in Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Jalpaigudi) Sikkim, Assam and Nagaland. Thakung or Thakthumba is the original name of Limboos. Limboo man and women are addressed with name ‘’Yakyeuma’’ or ‘’Yakthumba’’. Their tradition attire for man include Dhaka, cap and scarf, howeverfor women Dhaka saree, mekhali blouse and shawl. Dkaka is a geometrically handwoven traditional attire. Agriculture is the occupation of limboo and they produce crops like wheat, millet and maize. A limboo habitat is wood, stone,and bamboo etc made double storied and structure.A wooden ladder is available there for accessing to upper stain, the upper portion is covered with wooden baicony from three sides and two sides have windows. Ground floor of the house is quite bigger which is used for keeping food grains, clothes and other valuable articles. The house is usede is decorated with mineral colours. This house was collected by the museum in 2011 and exhibition in Himalaya village open air exhibition.
