जिमिदारिन माता का स्थान व अनुष्ठान

जिमिदारिन माता गाँव की रक्षा करनेवाली, विशेष रूप से बीमारी आदि से बचानेवाली प्रमुख देवी हैं। इनकी खड़ी हुई मूर्ति हाथ में धान के फूल लिये हुए बनाई जाती है । डांडदेव इनके सहायक हैं। तथा इनके कार्यों का क्रियान्वयन वही करते हैं। दो-तीन साल में जब कभी भी गाँव में बीमारी फैलने की आशंका होती है तब जिमिदारिन माता के स्थान पर पूजा कर, लोहे, बाँस तथा कस्सी नामक पेड़ से बनाई गयी कील या “खीली-खूँटी” गाड़ कर गाँव की किलेबन्दी की जाती है, जो बीमारी को गाँव में प्रवेश नहीं करने देती ।

Jimidarin Mata is the leading Goddess among all the guardian deities of Bastar, and is supposed to protect the village from any evil, specially diseases. She is visualized standing with flowers and rice sheaves in her hands. Danda Dev is the assistant who carries out her commands. Whenever the village smells the footfalls of a probable epidemic, they offer their prayers at the mother’s shrine and fortify the village by fixing nails of iron, bamboo and kasi wood around it to bar the diseases from entry into the village.
