देवी
करमसेनी देवी मध्य प्रदेश और छत्तीसगढ़ के जनजातीय और लोक समुदायों द्वारा खेतों की उर्वरता और परिवार के सदस्यों की भलाई के लिए पूजी जाती हैं। देवी के सम्मान में गोंड, बैगा, घड़वा, उरांव, घसिया, झारा और अन्य समुदायों द्वारा क्वांर / कुवार (सितंबर- अक्टूबर) माह में करम का त्यौहार मनाया जाता है। मानव जीवन के सभी पक्षों को दर्शाते करम नृत्य और गीत इस उत्सव का अनिवार्य हिस्सा हैं। भक्त एक दिन का उपवास रख करम वृक्ष की शाखाओं की पूजा करते हैं। युवा ग्रामीणों का एक समूह इस उत्सव के अनुष्ठान के लिए लकड़ी, फल और फूल इकट्ठा करता है। करम वृक्ष उर्वरता, समृद्धि और शुभता का प्रतीक है। करम त्यौहार और करम गीतों के सार को छत्तीसगढ़ के झारा शिल्पकार द्वारा करम झाड़ (करमसेनी का डोकरा वृक्ष) के रूप में अभिव्यक्त किया गया है।

KARAMSENI
A goddess
Karamseni is a goddess worshipped by the tribal and folk communities of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. She is worshipped for the fertility of the field and well being of the family members. In her honour a festival named Karam is celebrated in the month of Kwanr/Kuvar (September, October) by Gond, Baiga, Ghadwa, Oraon, Ghasia, Jhara and other communities. Karam dance and songs are essential part of this festival. The songs covers all the aspects of human life. The devotees keep a day long fast and worship the branches of Karam tree. A group of young villagers collect wood, fruits and flowers as a part of ritual of this festival. The Karam tree symbolizes fertility, prosperity and all auspicious things. The festival of Karam and the essence of Karam songs is expressed in the form of a Karam Jhad (Dokra tree of Karamseni) by the Jhara craftsman of Chhattisgarh.
