मुरिया, बड़े जनजातीय समूह गोंड का एक उप-समूह है, जो मुख्य रूप से छत्तीसगढ़ के बस्तर जिले के नारायणपुर और कोंडागांव तहसीलों में निवास करती है।
उनके पास एक मजबूत पारंपरिक ग्राम संगठन है जिसके माध्यम से वे अपनी सामाजिक और आर्थिक समस्याओं का समाधान करते हैं। मुरिया अपने घोटुल (युवागृह) संस्थान के लिए जानी जाती हैं जो उन्हें बस्तर की अन्य जनजातियों से अलग करता है। घोटुल में अविवाहित लड़के-लड़कियां नियमित रूप से एक साथ रात बिताते हैं।
घोटुल एक ऐसा संगठन है जो गाँव के सामाजिक और आर्थिक मामलों की ओर सेवा प्रदान करने में सहायक उनकी पारंपरिक संस्कृति को सीखने के केंद्र के रूप में कार्य करता है। घोटुल के संहिताबद्ध कानूनों के माध्यम से मुरिया अपनी सदियों पुरानी संस्कृति को बनाए रखते हैं और लड़कियों को बाहरी लोगों के बहकावे में आने से बचाते हैं।
घोटुल के मुख्य का चयन ग्रामीणों द्वारा पटेल (मुखिया) और गयता (पुजारी) की सहमति से किया जाता है। उसके पास अपने सहवासियों पर निर्णय लेने की शक्ति अच्छी होनी चाहिए। शादी के बाद लड़की कभी भी घोटुल में नहीं जाती है, अगर वह ऐसा करती है तो उस पर भारी जुर्माना लगाया जाता है। घोटुल में विवाहित व्यक्ति प्रवेश तो कर सकता है लेकिन उसमें सो नहीं सकता।

Muria is a sub-group of larger fold of tribal Gond, they largely concentrated in Narayanpur and Kondagaon tahsils in Bastar district of Chhattisgarh.
They have a strong traditional village organisation through which they resolve their social and economic problems. The Muria are unique for their Ghotul (Youth Dormitory) institution which segregates them the rest of the tribal population of Bastar. In Ghotul both the unmarried girls and boys are spend their night together regularly.
Ghotul is an organisation which acts as a centre for learning their traditional culture helpful in rendering service towards the social and economic matters of village. Through the codified laws of the Ghotul the Muria maintains their age old culture and protect girls from seduction by outsiders.
The leader of Ghotul is selected by the villages under the consent of the Patel ( headmen) and Gaita (the priest). He must have a good command decision making power over his inmates. After marriage a girl never enters into the ghotul, if she does, a heavy fine is fixed to her. A married man can enter into the ghotul but he can’t sleep in there.
