डोकरा देव तथा रावदेव का स्थान व अनुष्ठान

डोकरा देव बीज के अंकुरण व अच्छी फसल के लिये जिम्मेदार हैं। इनका स्थान गाँव के बाहर पूर्व दिशा में किसी खेत के पास प्रायः बड़ के पेड़ के नीचे होता है। इनकी एक हाथ में कुल्हाड़ी लिये, बैठी हुई आकृति पीतल में बनाई जाती है। वैशाख माह की एकम को अक्ति पर्व मनाते हैं, जिसमें पूर्वजों को पहला आम चढ़ाया जाता। है। इस दिन के बाद कभी भी डोकरा देव के पुजारी को सूर्योदय से पहले खेत पर बुलवा कर डोकरा देव की पूजा करते हैं। पुजारी गीले पिसान (पीसा हुआ चावल) से खेत के एक कोने में घड़ी (चौक) बनाता है। इस पिसान के हाथ की पाँच छाप वह उस मटकी पर लगाता है, जिसमें घर से बीज लाया गया है, एक छाप किसान की पीठ पर तथा एक हल पर लगाता है। इसके बाद धान बो कर डोकरा देव से अच्छी फसल की प्रार्थना करते हैं। कार्तिक माह में फसल की कटाई होती है। अच्छी पैदावार डोकरा देव की जिम्मेदारी है और फसल की कीड़ों, जानवरों, चोरों से रक्षा करना रावदेव का काम है। रावदेव पक रही फसल की देखभाल, वेश बदल-बदल कर करते हैं। रात में घुडसवार के रूप में टेमा राव बनकर खेत के चक्कर लगाते हैं, सुबह गर्भराव बनकर फसल को बुरी नज़र से बचाते हैं, ढोंडरा राव बनकर खेत की मेड़ पर रहते हैं तथा झुलना राव बनकर धान के पैरा (पुआल) में ही निवास करते हैं और इस तरह फसल को कीड़ा लगने से बचाते हैं।

THE SHRINE OF DOKRADEV AND RAVDEV

Dokra dev is regarded as the guardian of the sprouting of seeds as much as he is responsible for a good harvest. His shrines are usually situated near the fields towards the east of the village, where under a banyan tree stands his bronze image, axe in hand.
On the first day of Baisakh, Akti Parv is celebrated when the first mango of the season is offered to the ancestors. Any day after this, the priest of Dokradev can be summoned before sunrise for the ritual worship. In a corner of the field he draws the ritual chowk with rice paste. Dipping his palm in the paste he puts five imprints on the pitcher carrying the seeds, one on the farmer’s back and one on the plough. Thereafter paddy is sown and Dokradev invoked for his blessing. The crop is harvested in the month of Kartik. A good harvest is Dokradev’s responsibility and guarding the crop against insects, pests and thieves is Ravdev’s.
Ravdev keeps vigil over the standing crop changing forms to suit the various hours of the day. At night he can be seen, riding the horse, patrolling the fields as Tema Rav; at dawn he wards off the evil eye as Garbhadev; as Dhodaradev, he guards over the fence and as Jhulna Rav, he inhabits the paddy stalk itself.
