थुल, भंडारण टोकरी
थुल बांस और बेंत से निर्मित एक बड़ी टोकरी है जिसका उपयोग मुख्यतः मूल्यवान वस्तुएं रखने के लिए जाता है। महिलाओं के लिए थूल उनकी वैवाहिक साजो समान का मूल्यवान और प्रिय हिस्सा होते हैं। एक युवती का अपना एक थुल होता है जिसमें वह अपने विवाह के लिए स्वयं के द्वारा बुने हुए कपड़े रखती है। यह टोकरी दोहरी दीवार वाली कसकर बुनी संरचना होती है जो चार छोटे पैरों पर टिकी होती है। इसका चौकोर निचला हिस्सा लगभग 12 इंच का है और ऊपर की तरफ इसकी चौड़ाई बढ़ते हुए 20 इंच के व्यास वाले मुंह में बदल जाती है। इस टोकरी पर एक गुंबदनुमा ढक्कन लगा है जिसकी बाहरी परत बांस की पतली खपच्चियों से अत्यंत बारीकी से बुनी गई है। भीतरी सतह अच्छी तरह से सूखे हुए ‘हनहथियाल’ नामक चौड़े पत्तों से आच्छादित है। जटिल रूप से बुनी परतदार संरचना इसे एक जलरोधी टोकरी बनाती हैै। टोकरी के मुंह और निचले हिस्से पर छोटे फंदे बने हैं जिनमें इसे उठाने के लिए एक पट्टा सुविधाजनक रूप से लगाया जा सके।

Thul, A storage basket
Thul is a big basket mainly used for keeping valuable things. It is made of bamboo and cane. Women possessed Thul as a part of their trousseau, which is precious and adorable. A grown-up girl maintains a Thul of her own where she put her woven clothes for her marriage. The basket is a double-walled tightly woven structure that stands on four short legs. Its square-shaped bottom is about 12 inches, and the body gets gradually widens to the extent of the mouth forming a circle with a diameter of about 20 inches. This basket is equipped with a dome-shaped lid and the outer layer of which is finely woven by thin bamboo splits. The inner surface is lined with broad and adequately dried leaves called ‘Hnahthial’. As a result of its intricately woven structure formed by different layers, the basket is considered to be waterproof. It also contains a small loop towards the open mouth and the base that allows to hold the carrying strap conveniently.
