पिथौरा चित्र
रंगों से भरपूर, अनुष्ठानिक और सृजनात्मक ‘पिथौरा’ चित्र गुजरात के राठवा, भिलाला और नायका लोगो की रचनात्मकता दर्शाते हैं। वन देवता बाबा पिथौरा देव के चित्र को सामान्यतः ‘ओटला’ या घर के मुख्य कक्ष की तीन दीवारों पर चित्रित किया जाता है। यह चित्र देवता को प्रसन्न करने के लिए किए गए अनुष्ठानिक अर्पण होते हैं। परंपरागत रूप से यह चित्र समुदाय के पारंगत पुरुषों द्वारा बनाए जाते हैं जिन्हें लखारा या चितारा के नाम से जाना जाता है। बडवो या पुजारी अपने दो संगतकारों, जो ढोल बजाने और अनुष्ठानिक गीत गाने में सहयोग करते हैं, के साथ बाबा पिथोरा की पूजा करता है। यह पूजा तीन दिनों तक चलती है और चित्र में पांच प्रमुख देवताओं यथा हेधा जतर, बाबा इन्द, पिथौरो, पिथौरी (पिथौरो की रानी), और रानी काजल को समर्पित पांच घोड़ों का चित्रण शामिल है।
यह चित्र सूर्य, चंद्रमा, हाथी, बाघ और दैनिक जीवन और गतिविधियों के कई अन्य पहलुओं को दर्शाता है। इसके अतिरिक्त लगभग एक सौ पचास अन्य पात्रों को भी इस चित्र में दिखाया गया है।

Pithora painting
This colourful ‘Pithora’ painting is highly ritualistic and inventive. It shows the creative imagination of the Rathwas, Bhilalas, and Nayakas of Gujarat. The painting of Baba Pithora dev, the Sylvan deity, is generally painted on the walls of ‘otla’ or the main living space. Three walls in this dwelling space are devoted to the offerings of ritual paintings in appeasement of the deity. Traditionally, the ritual painting is designated to specialised male members of the community, known as the Lakharas or Chitaras. The Badvo or priest performs Baba Pithora’s worship involving two of his accompaniments who assist in playing the drum and chanting the ritual songs. This ritual worship lasts for three days and the painting includes the depiction of five horses dedicated to the five principal deities; namely Hedha Jatar, Baba Ind, Pithoro, Pithori (Pithoro’s queen), and Rani Kaajal.
This painting illustrates the Sun, Moon, Elephant, Tiger, and many other aspects of daily life and activities. In addition, around one hundred and fifty individual characters are also painted in this painting.
